Visual Identity, Website Design, Social Media, Photo & Editorial Direction
Yvonne and her team wanted a way to connect directly with her audience, as well as share her work online. We decided that an artist website (her first) and instagram account (also another first) would achieve these goals. Over a few talk-story sessions in her backyard, I learned of her incredible life story and dedication to process. We went through old boxes of photographs and documents, and reached out to friends to document her artistic contributions.
The visual identity was guided by elements found in her paintings and her home studio in Honolulu. I vectorized her signature for the logo, and stayed true to her color palette—consistent hues memorized and mixed by hand. I designed a larger-than-average cursor for an easier desktop experience, as her audience demographic (friends and collectors similar to Yvonne's age).
In the end, I got to work with an amazing team of local creatives to direct photography and editorial for her artist profile, biography and online gallery to reflect the grace and dignity of both the artist and her muses, being careful to align all visual choices with the tone and rhythm of her work.
Above all, we wanted to inspire all generations of Hawaii artists to continue to create and share their work.
